Antivirus pop-ups/notifications are very annoying and the situation gets even worse when they come up again and again disturbing you between your work. Don't worry about this article, I will be sharing some ways you can stop these annoying pop-ups on your windows. I have been through this issue earlier, so I did a lot of research and came up with the solution for my own work. So, I came up with this article so that I can help others with the same issues as well. Why Do Antivirus Pop-Ups Come? Mostly, these antivirus pop-ups come when you download something on your computer physically, these pop-ups also show up sometimes when there are some issues in your browser. These are the two most common reasons for getting these pop-ups. First, find out why is it happening on your computer before trying the solution because the solutions for both ways are completely different. So, think of it, did you install something on your computer recently, or do these pop-up notifications come whenever you open a certain program like chrome? Answer these two questions and you will now know what solution is right for you. So, below are the ways/solutions to stop the anti-virus pop-ups. I will also tell you how you can simply disable these notifications even if you don't find the reasons very helpful. 1. Uninstall the Program You Downloaded Recently If you are getting pop-ups because you downloaded and installed some stuff, then you will have to delete that program, most probably the program you installed is not compatible with your antivirus. To uninstall that program, simply follow the below steps. Search the Control panel in Windows and open it.Click on 'Uninstall a Program under the Programs section.A long list of software and programs installed on your computer will appear, Click on the program, you want to deleteAnd click 'Uninstall' and click 'Ok' to confirm your deletion. Once you have done this, most probably your pop-ups will have been gone but if they are still here, then you may have not uninstalled the right program or the popups were caused due to the other reason. 2. Restore Browser Settings to Default If you see these pop-ups whenever you open a browser window, then there are very high chances that these pop-ups come because of some problems in your browser. To fix that, follow these steps: Open your browser, click on the three dots at the top-right corner and select 'Settings'Scroll down to the bottom and click on 'Advanced'Scroll down at the bottom and click on 'Restore Settings to the original default' This will not delete your bookmarks, saved passwords, etc., this will basically reset the other settings of your browser which will most probably stop this infection of your browser. 3. Remove Unwanted Extensions & Enable Pop-ups block If the above method didn't work for you and you think that your browser has some issues, then this method may work for you. Sometimes these pop-ups may be caused by some chrome extensions you installed so remove all unwanted and extensions from non-authorized sources, and then enable the pop-ups block option on chrome, this option is available on all the browsers, you will find that in the Settings. For chrome, you can follow these steps to enable the pop-ups block option: Open your browser, click on the three dots at the top-right corner and select 'Settings'Under the Privacy section, click on 'Site Settings' or 'Content Settings'Scroll down at the bottom and click on 'Pop-ups and redirects'Then click on 'Don't allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects' This will be automatically enabled in most of the cases but somehow you may have got it disabled which started causing this issue, so simply turn that option on and you will get that fixed. 4. Disable Mcafee Web Advisor If you are seeing pop-ups while using your browser, then the Mcafee Web advisor could be another reason for it. So, the solution is: Open Chrome, click on the three dots at the top right corner, and click on 'Settings'Click on 'Extensions' in the left panelThis will open all the extensions installed on your browser, locate Mcafee Web Advisor, and simply disable it. 4. Disable Notification On Windows Security Another way to get rid of these annoying notifications is by disabling the notifications on the Windows Security & Management panel. Follow these steps: In Windows Search Tab, search 'Security and Maintenance'Click on 'Change Security and Maintenance Settings' on the left panelUncheck the Notification from Virus This will block those annoying pop-ups and you will not see those notifications further. An alternate method of doing this is: Search 'Notifications and actions' in the Windows menu search bar and open the programYou can change all your notification settings here, you can either directly disable all the notifications by clicking on 'On' to turn that off.Or, you may simply block the program, scroll down a little bit and you will find an option labeled as 'Security & Maintenance', simply disable that option. This way you will block all the notifications from your anti-virus software whether it is Mcafee, Norton security, or any other. 5. Uninstall Mcafee or Whatever AntiVirus Software You Use If you want to keep that program you installed or want to install any software that seems suspicious, then the best way to stop these popups is by deleting the anti-virus software itself. This technique is not recommended and honestly, I would not suggest you do so. To do so, you have to exactly follow all the steps you did in the first technique and select your anti-virus software at the end. Search the Control panel in Windows and open it.Click on 'Uninstall a Program under the Programs section.A long list of software and programs installed on your computer will appear, Click on your antivirus software (Macafee/Norton/Avast, etc.)And click 'Uninstall' and click 'Ok' to confirm your deletion. Some Exceptions Sometimes these pop-ups come when your antivirus software is not updated to the latest version. So, make sure your software is updated, you can learn more about updating your anti-virus software on the official site of your anti-virus.
